This weekend I went to Cleveland for the New Music Seminar. Speaking on a panel wit executives from Interscope, Jive, Def Jam, AllHipHop, SRC, BMI, Sirius Radio, G-Unit, Motown and AOL. Shouts to Amber J,, Tone Capone and Eric Parler for throwing such a great event
First stop after getting off the plane was finding food. I met up with Sean of The Famous Firm, who reps us in Ohio, right away. Ended up at Panini's, some bar on West 6th. Played some pool with Gaeton from Thumplay then met up with the other executive's at this restaurant XO. I was told "that's where "the Cavaliers eat". I saw Braylon Edwards in there too dressed up as Jimi Hendrix (it was Halloween). Probably not a coincidence he dropped two balls tin the Browns loss vs the Ravens 2 days later. After dinner, it was time to check my Eighty81 family (Jameel, DJ Steph Floss, Duck) at House of Blues for their Halloween party (which #17 also attended). Party was great as expected, filled with Patron and shout outs. Then it was back to the Crown Plaza for some R&R.
Saturday started with a listening session. Sean and I met a lot of interesting and talented artists. Took some pictures with the artists I met.
Fameus is a very talented singer from Caton. Check out and download this dope song they played me "Spaceship"
This one singer named JaVe't had no recorded music. So she sang acapella:
After meetings, headed downstairs to the panel. The place was packed!
Sickamore @ The New Music Seminar from Sickamore on Vimeo. Obama was in the house too! The seminar was very informative. I believe we really got somethings accomplished. We saw some more performances at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, then it was party time!
All and all Cleveland was fun (as always). Shout out to Sean of The Famous Firm, Jameel, DJ Steph Floss, Duck, Big Heff, Gemma, Amber, Tone, EP, Manny, Sterling, Dre, Apex, Conrad, General Hawkins, Steve Raze, Kelo, Owey, Pierce, Ant Rich, Ainslee, Nicole, Jessica, Lenny S, JO, Von Jeff, Nigil, The Kick Drums and everyone else I talked too in town. See yall again on November 21st!
It's pretty early right now. Went to bed right after the Colts vs New England game. Tired from all the traveling. But I woke up thinking to myself, 'I got a good life'. There's nothing I'd rather be doing then exactly what I'm doing right now. The Firm is growing faster and smoother than anyone anticipated. Shout out to the whole Famous Family: Nina, Jay, Mike, Phella, Sean, Hovain, Aaron, Markus, Nisarg, Sakwe, Diarm, Sterling, Omar, Christina and Reilly. My Famous Friends: Joey IE, Rich Hil, Slim of 112, Neako, Hip-Hop, Wynter and co. etc. And my famous clients: Insomniaks, GTC, Thrillz, O&S, Flowers & Kain, Teflon Drama, I look back on how unfufilling my last job was as in comparison in to now; no comparison. Day and night like CuDi.
-Travel around the states looking for talent -Got a legitamate hit record with "So Fly" -Doing busiess with 3 majors plus a internatinal mogul CEO on a day to day basis -Still have time to blog, read be a lush, tweet, play fantasy football, party but most importantly THINK
Sometimes your so business on calls and meetings, you don't get a chance to be innovative.
Barry's been a big inspiration as well. Watching his rise really makes you believe anything in this world is possible.
Asher Roth x The Cool Kids Freestyle Video @ Sk8tique
Backstory: Don Cannon x Stevie Williams decided to launch a new skater boutique called Sk8tique in Atlanta. All the cool kids (literally and figuratively) came out to support, including Ne-Yo, Drumma Boy, Terrance J, The Cool Kids, Asher Roth, Chubby Baby, Rich Hil, Aaron Reid and a bunch of other people I didn't see
5:58am, Central Time Drake (Old Head) Hotel, Chicago
-Back in NYC for the first time since Friday afternoon. Spend Friday through Monday in Atlanta and a quick detour in Chicago. I'm good on the road; doesn't take much for me to hit a plan and Mariano a deal real quick. But I'm happy to head home. Even if it's only for a couple days (DC-Maryland-Virginia on Friday) -Today we're doing a huge photoshoot for The Famous Firm. Not a client, but the actual members of The Firm. Got the reps in from DC + Ohio. Won't discuss the theme, but it's ill, not sick -I paid the price for not switching over to the iPhone. I let you talk me out of it. Now the bitch stopped charging. And is still trackball-less. Very depressing. Bet that wouldn't happen with a 3G -Went to the beach @ Lake Michigan. Didn't hit Harold's though -Jay-Z should do a remix go every Jeezy song. The Corporate Thugz get him to talk that shit -That's all for now. Headed to O'Hare
In Atlanta tonight until Tuesday. Shout out to my Co-D's Rich + Joey. And all my ATLiens I'ma see this weekend: Don Cannon, Slim of 112, Necole Bitchie, Randy Roper, Dreika, Caveman, Jazze Pha, Shondrae, Nephu, Hit Boy, DJ Drama + everyone else that slips my sober mind
This shit is crazzzy. I met Illecism and the Insomniaks while taking meetings with Markus in LA about 6 weeks ago. The same $500 bet goes for him too. But he says at the end of the video I need to drop the price, so maybe $300. Check his myspace page out Myspace.com/illecism
Met with an incredibly talent singer named Kelly Love Jones from New Orleans. She played me 3 songs (check 'em out below) in the park of the Intercontinental in Buckhead. You be the judge.
MONDAY 4:05pm Left O'Hare airport on the 4:05pm back to NYC. Chi-town was incredibly productive. Need a Famous Firm Rep 7:23pm Landed in Laguardia. Finished The Non Verbal Advantage. It's about how to read ody language, facial expressions, tone etc. For example, communication is 55% body language, 38& tone of your voice and 7% what you actually say. I gotta few tricks for Rihanna next time I see her
TUESDAY 9:30am Court. Again. This is my last case I promise. Driving related. I talked about it before. I would go more in detail but my mother reads my blog. Last time she flipped out in her Trini accent: "BOY! WHY YA TELLIN ALL OF ALL YA BUSINESS ON DA COMPUTER?!?!?! U STUPID OR WHAT??!!?!?!" So speak to my lawyer (a/k/a Sickamom) if you want more details.
11:02am Court done. Young Richie Cunningham headed to Al's Diner aka The Coffee Shop to celebrate. After 10 minutes, guess who comes in and sits right next to me? Yep, Tyra "Oprah's a old head" Banks 2:00pm Took 2 back to back meetings at Asylum. Heard this dope new group The Command Radio. Then talked to the team about the new and improved Famous Firm website.
9:30pm First time at Spice Market. Went there with my lawyer/consigliere. Had mango salad, tamarind mojitos and mussels. Pause. I know it's random but wanted to keep you up to date.
WEDNESDAY
8:14pm Flight to Atlanta for Slim of 112's photoshoot. We brought him to Joey IE and Asylum this time last year while I was living in Atlanta. Now the record is at 1300+ spins. The whole album is crazy actually. The single features Shawty Lo and Yung Joc. Kicked it with Gucci Mane and Necole Bitchie (more on that later) on set. Heard Jeezy came through but I had to go scout some talent. Here's what Slim had to say:
10:22pm Heard about Jessica Tonder and Proton from their manager and ComeUpKids Capo Fadia Kadar who was introduced to me by the go.to.girl Lissa They did a feature on someone else's set last night. They killed it. Jessica didn't perform. Then we all went to kick it at this spot. Talked about NY vs Atlanta, cross country trips and what the green stuff was on my chicken skewers. Going to see them perform Monday at Afro Punk in NYC. Check out their new single "Magazine Dreamz" on their myspace page
I'll be in Atlanta until Sunday. Bout to go research all the Starbucks around the Intercontinental Hotel in Buckhead.
