R.I.P. Don Marbury Jr

Steph's going through it right now. My prayers go out to his family. I know he's going to come back strong from this. I couldn't imagine losing a parent.

A person who spoke with Knicks officials last night confirmed that Don Marbury had chest pains when he was taken from the arena. He died a short time later at a local hospital.

Don Marbury raised seven children, including four sons who played basketball for Lincoln High School in Coney Island.

This is the third time in three weeks that Stephon Marbury has lost someone from his inner circle. Robert Williams, also known as Mr. Lou, was an early coach and mentor to Marbury when he was growing up in Coney Island. Williams died Nov. 13, the same day that Marbury — angry over Coach Isiah Thomas’s threat to bench him — left the team in Phoenix and returned to New York. Marbury learned of Williams’s death after he arrived that day and visited his family. Less than a week later, on Nov. 19, Marbury’s aunt Helen Thomas died.

It has been a difficult time for Marbury on the court as well. He has clashed with Thomas over his play and was forced to play off the bench for three consecutive games last month. Thomas has repeatedly demanded better leadership and defense from Marbury, and their once close relationship seems to have frayed.

At least they were in the same city when he died. RIP Don Marbury Jr and the whole Marbury family

Steph is one of my favorite players, I used to like him when he was in Phoenix. I know he's going through a lot right now. My condolences to the Marbury family.

one of my best friends who I consider my brother lost his father on the same day as steph. This same brother of mine also lost his mother this past august. I was very close with his parents also. I see things as signs. My friend is a lifelong knicks fan who is a huge fan of Marbury.
